Megamatcher is a software system designed for large-scale AFIS and multi-biometric systems developers. The technology ensures high reliability and speed of biometric identification even when using large databases. It is used mainly for applications that require a huge amount of data, such as the IDTOMIS program of the Philippines’ Department of Health (DOH).
More than 10 years ago, the DOH launched the IDTOMIS program to lessen instances of fraud at drug testing centers. The DOH required drug testing centers in the Philippines to capture each customers’ fingerprints and enter it into the IDTOMIS database along with their drug testing data and results. This allowed national programs such as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to secure its driver’s license application and renewal process by requiring drug testing for all applicants.
